The U.S. Economic Development Administration has awarded the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia a three- year, $1 million grant to help boost energy and technology exports.
WTCGP will use the grant to launch a regional economic development program to promote exports and export-related jobs for Greater Philadelphia firms. The programs will target the energy and environment, high tech and nanotechnology, biotech and life sciences, and education and knowledge industry sectors.
Under the grant, WTCGP will be able to partner with regional organizations in their efforts.
“President Obama is committed to doubling U.S. exports over the next five years while supporting 2 million American jobs,” U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke said in announcing the grant. “This investment advances that goal by helping small energy and technology companies in the Greater Philadelphia area get the technical assistance they need to take advantage of trade opportunities around the world.”
