Posting Description
The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs campus, is searching for a research associate to be involved in research in the general area of nano-physics and its application to biological issues. For example, one research project will focus on bio-imaging and bio-sensing problems by using plasmonics nanostructures, such as colloidal silver or gold and regular arrays of plasmonic nanoparticles on a substrate.
The work will be primarily experimental in nature.

The post-doctoral researcher will work with Physics and Biology researchers and will be expected to design, implement and monitor research projects producing significant research results, generate new research directions, write and publish research papers, and write
grant proposals. This position may involve supervision of graduate students.

This is a grant-funded position and continuation of the position is contingent upon funding.

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications)
The successful candidate will have a PhD in physics, biochemistry, biophysics or related fields and will have extensive experimental skills in nanostructured materials, UV-vis spectroscopy, light scattering (DLS), electron microcopy (TEM, SEM), fluorescent spectroscopy and microscopy, etc. Some knowledge of molecular biology, surface chemistry and/or nano-medicine is preferred.
Desired qualifications
The successful applicant will have a background in bio-physics, an excellent research record, and the ability to collaborate with current faculty. Must be able to problem solve, research and analyze situations and propose creative solutions. Must be detail oriented and have the ability to write in a compelling and clear manner.
