USA: MEMS Engineer

The MEMS and Nanotechnology Exchange is seeking experienced microfabrication engineers and technicians.​ The MEMS and Nanotechnology Exchange at the Corporation for National Research Initiatives (CNRI) is looking for engineers and technicians to work as part of our MEMS process development technical staff.​ This position will require significant work in a clean room laboratory environment and the ability to expedite process runs covering a wide diversity of fabrication techniques and process technologies for our large and growing customer base.​ This person will need to have considerable “hands on”and “real world” experience as well as the ability to interface extremely well with our engineers and customers.

Requirements

We are looking for engineers at the BS, MS, or PhD level with at least 5 years of experience in a wide diversity of microfabrication projects.​Successful candidates will have ample relevant experience in performing photolithography, wet and dry etching, DRIE, wafer bonding, thin-film deposition, thermal processes, metrology, etc.​ Candidates must also have experience in process development, including Design of Experiments (DOE),process integration, and the complete fabrication of MEMS/​NEMS devices and systems.​ It would also be helpful if the candidate has experience in using MEMS design tools such as Cadence, Matlab,L-Edit, AutoCAD, Coventor, etc.​ Must be a self-starter, willing to tackle hard problems, able to work in a team oriented environment, and able to quickly deliver quality results to our customers.​ Suitable candidates should have extensive familiarity with most all MEMS fabrication techniques and good to excellent “engineering intuition.​” Knowledge of materials science such as basic mechanical material properties and how to measure these properties using test structures will be most useful.​ Candidates must also have sufficient computer skills in Unix, Linux and Microsoft environments.​ U.​S.​ citizenship is required , along with the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.​ Excellent written and oral communications skills are also required.

Responsibilities

MEMS Exchange engineers and technicians are responsible for performing processing work on MEMS development projects for our customers.​ These projects range from basic research to full-blown product development programs.​ The engineers and technicians are required to perform process development work,including debugging processes and process sequences, in order to be able to successfully implement working devices for our customers.​ Persons must have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and on very tight time schedules.
