US: Research Engineers – Piezoelectric materials, SMA, MEMS, Nanotechnology

Job Description :
Research Engineers are responsible for the research, analysis, development, execution and interpretation of research topics that contribute to emerging technology projects. The successful applicant will perform independent research under the supervision of a the Research Manager / VP. This position will require strong analytical and modeling skills to predict performance of new technologies.

Responsibilities to Include:
Perform applied and basic research by application of scientific and engineering principles with the aid of a variety of software tools and laboratory apparatus.
Investigate, create and develop new methods and technologies for project advancement.
Maintain a high level of professional expertise through familiarity with current scientific or other literature.
Participate in research-related conferences
Identify patentable inventions.
Use professional concepts in accordance with company objectives to solve a variety of problems in creative and effective ways.
Collaborate with universities and industry partners for emerging technology.
Duties will include some combination of analysis, modeling, laboratory testing, test equipment design, hardware development/testing, technical writing, literature research, oral presentation, customer and supplier interface.

Education:
BS and MS in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or physics with broad ranging technical skills and interests with at least 0-3 years experience in the field. PhD preferred.

Position Requirements:
Experience or training with any of the following computer tools is expected: MS Excel, MS Word and MS Powerpoint.
Experience with any of the following is advantageous: MathCad, Matlab, Simulink, PSpice, FEA Software, CAD Software, Unigraphics, C++, or Visual Basic.
Any significant experience in the following will be considered favorably: Piezoelectric materials, SMA, MEMS, Nanotechnology, Electric Motor Performance Analysis, or Systems Dynamics.
Strong communication skills are particularly desirable.
