The Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory (MNTL) seeks energetic applicants for a Program Manager position. The Program Manager position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining various educational programs consistent with the objectives of NSF and NIH training grants. The position reports to the MNTL Director. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the educational and training functions of the training center.
  • Coordinating the educational efforts at UIUC and partner institutions.
  • Helping website development and management, internal database, web-based distance learning, and communications.
  • Helping coordinate education and training events, the annual NSF Site Visit and other Advisory Board and Oversight Committee meetings.
  • Providing support for the assessment and evaluation of research, education, and diversity programs of the training center grants.
  • Helping prepare the annual report and contributing to proposal writing for external funding.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:   A current affiliation with the Illinois campus is required. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required, but a Masters Degree or Ph.D. is preferred.    Preference will be given to degrees in the fields of education and the sciences. A minimum of three years of professional work experience is required, with preference given to experience in higher education academic programs administration and/or curriculum development. Management experience of comprehensive, interdisciplinary, or multi-institutional educational programs is preferred. Demonstrated ability to multitask, work independently and collaboratively across multiple sites around the country and internationally is preferred. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills required.

The Program Manager position is a full-time, benefits-eligible academic professional position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. Applicants may be interviewed before the closing date; however, no hiring decision will be made until after that date. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
