- Description
- A postdoctoral fellow position is open starting Aug 1, 2013 to computationally design and characterize green fluorescent protein-based biosensors for viral proteins. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in biology, biochemistry or biophysics, and will be familiar with molecular biological methods, protein purification and protein characterization using quantitative methods. Experience with molecular modeling, bioinformatics, X-ray crystallography, biomolecular software design, and/or molecular dyanamics is a plus, but not required. The position is for two years with a possible extension to four years.
The Bystroff lab is interdisciplinary, with computational biology, molecular biology and biophysics focuses. The lab has 1000 sqft of dedicated lab space with all of the standard molecular biology instruments and tools. We also share space in the Center for Biotechnology and Interdiscplinary Studies, which has core facilities with full time staff in analytical biochemistry, microbiology, microscopy and protein NMR. We have a 40-node computer cluster in the lab, and access to the 32,000-node compute cluster at the Computational Center for Nanotechnology Innovations.
