As a Nanotechnology Scientist – Materials Science, you will work in a team to develop novel materials and processes by conducting research, analysis, and experimentation. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will focus on the development of nano-engineered materials for applications across various GE businesses.

The successful candidate will be a member of a Global Research team developing nano-engineered materials and processes. In your role as a materials scientist, you will conduct research, synthesize new materials, analyze material and system properties, plan and perform experiments, and develop new ideas for inventing new materials, new processes and new methods of integrating nano-engineered materials in different applications.

As a Nanotechnology Scientist – Materials Science, you will:

  • Be a member of the Chemical Nanotechnology Laboratory working to develop nano-engineered materials for several applications relevant to GE.
  • Collaborate with technologists in GE businesses to understand their unmet needs and product requirements.

  • Perform experimental work in the area of nanotechnology

  • Analyze the results and design future experiments based on data and business needs.

  • Communicate results to leadership at GRC and GE businesses through presentations and documentation.
  • Doctorate degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in synthesis and design of nano engineered materials.
  • Experience in techniques used for characterization of nano materials.
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

    Experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Nanomaterial fabrication
  • Self assembly and directed assembly
  • Nano scale coatings
  • Nanostructure characterization and manipulation
  • Structure property relationships
  • Thermal science and technology

  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Demonstrated creative problem solving skills using innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated capability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Passion for working in a research environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
