US: NANOTECHNOLOGY ENGINEER

Position Summary:
The Nanotechnology Engineer will serve as a member of a technical team responsible for applying the principles of chemistry, physics, biology and engineering to research and solve problems involving the production of nano-materials for chemical and biological sensing products. The research and development efforts will be included in diagnostic medical devices. This position provides the foundation for technical product development.

Responsibilities:
Plans and tests methods of manufacturing products and treating the by-products.
Utilizes technology to optimize all phases of research production.
Conduct research to develop new and improved products and manufacturing processes.
Write/review reports, proposals, invention disclosure, patent applications and scientific papers.
Plan, execute and review experimental design relating product specifications or process parameters.
Manage the technical and quality requirements of critical wafer, chip and sensor subassembly components used in product manufacturing. Lead component qualification efforts.
Lead internal manufacturing process development efforts to achieve high yield, increased throughput, and reduced cost. Integrate statistical process control in support of manufacturing
Generate manufacturing procedure documentation, tool/fixture design, and part specifications
Analyze manufacturing rejects/field failures to assist in product improvement
Participate in future product development through design, prototyping, and process evaluations to ensure manufacturability.
Supervises the design of equipment and develops processes for transfer to manufacturing utilizing principles and technology of chemistry, physics, mathematics, engineering and related physical and natural sciences.

Requirements

Requirements:
Exceptional communication skills.
Should have 3-5 years experience in research and development of advanced technology.
2+ years experience in applying principles of chemistry and inorganic chemistry to engineering of Carbon Nanotubes sensors and related applications.
Solid working knowledge of equipment and processes required for silicon wafer and chip manufacturing, along with other micro-manufacturing techniques.
Solid working knowledge of semiconductor transistor devices, processing techniques, and possibly carbon nanotubes or other nanostructures (growth/characterization).
Hands-on experience with characterization tools for nano-materials (SEM, AFM, TEM, EDS, FTIR etc.).
Familiarity with screen printed electrodes manufacturing processes.

Education/Certifications:
Masters or PhD in one of the following: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Sciences.

Industry Experience:
Experience in a start-up company environment is preferred. Experience with manufacturing scale-up, product and process validation is preferred. Exposure to regulated product development (FDA/CE) is a plus. Working knowledge of federal grant application and grant reporting procedures a plus.
