Nanotechnology and Semiconductor Faculty (Visiting Scholar) (Position No. 081005050)
Salary: $40,000 – $46,000 based on education and experience. / 9 Months
A full-time teaching position (Some Evenings and Weekends) in the School of Engineering, Business and Technology. The Visiting Scholar program is a temporary appointment, recommended for up to two years at the discretion of the College President. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • A visiting scholar position to coordinate both the Nanotechnology and Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology programs.

  • The candidate will be responsible for the preparation of students to be able to perform duties of an entry-level Nanotechnician in research and development and manufacturing industries.

  • The candidate will also be responsible for the preparation of students to obtain the skills to perform technical duties associated with the installation, repair, maintenance and calibration of equipment used for the manufacture and test of semiconductor products.

  • Serve on college and District committees as requested.

  • Perform duties required of full-time faculty as specified in the DCCCD contract.

  • A successful candidate will be able to plan and execute effective instruction and utilize instructional technology.

  • Interest in pedagogy and familiarity with outcomes assessment.

  • Participate enthusiastically in recruitment and retention activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Physics or other related discipline or Associate’s degree and demonstrated competency in the teaching discipline and (for either of the above) three years of direct or related work experience other than teaching.

  • Demonstrated skills in successfully working with diverse populations through experiences such as formal training and past work experiences.

  • Nine months salary ranging from $40,000-$46,000 based on education and experience.

  • Extra service and summer compensation possibilities in addition to 9-month contract. (Comprehensive benefits package).
