US: Cancer Nanotechnology in Imaging and Radiotherapy Training Program

An NCI-funded Cancer Education and Career Development (R25) program at Northwestern University, “Cancer Nanotechnology in Imaging and Radiotherapy,” seeks M.D. applicants to begin the program in 2011. This NCI-funded program will impart the necessary knowledge and skills to research-oriented radiologists and radiation oncologists who hope to participate in the process by which advances in nanotechnology research enter the clinic.

The training program is full time, 2 or 3 yrs long, and has didactic, laboratory research, and clinical research components. Fellows enrolled in the training program will have no clinical responsibilities. The program provides an annual stipend of $68,000 per year + $20,000 per year for training-related expenses. Applicants must be U.S citizens or permanent residents and in their final year of a Radiology or Rad/Onc residency, or post-residency.

Applicants who can interrupt their clinical residency to participate in this program will also be considered. The training program is directed by Dr. Gayle Woloschak and operates under the auspices of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center, with strong support from the Depts. of Radiology and Radiation Oncology at Northwestern University and from the Depts. of Radiology and Radiation and Cellular Oncology at the University of Chicago.
