University Lecturer in Engineering Science (Electrical Engineering)
DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING SCIENCE in association with Wadham College
The Department of Engineering Science intends to appoint a University Lecturer in Engineering Science (Electrical Engineering) from 1 September 2013 or earlier. The successful candidate will work at the Department of Engineering Science and will be offered a Tutorial Fellowship at Wadham College under arrangements described in the further particulars. The combined University and College salary will be on a scale currently from £43,312 p.a. plus additional benefits. The appointment will be initially for five years at which point, upon completion of a successful review, the postholder will be eligible for reappointment to the retiring age.
This appointment will add further strength to the department’s electrical engineering research. This includes communications systems, electrical power, energy, materials, nanotechnology, microelectronics, photonics, and microscopy (a more complete description of current research can be found in the further particulars). Applications from candidates with research interests both within and complementary to the above areas are welcome.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in Electrical Engineering, including a doctorate in Electrical Engineering or a cognate discipline. Candidates should have a proven research track record witnessed by peer reviewed publications and collaborations and relevant teaching experience. They will be expected to contribute to the teaching of undergraduate courses in the Department of Engineering Science, which may include lectures, tutorials and practical classes, and the supervision of undergraduate design and project work, and pastoral care of students in College. They will be expected to contribute to the Electrical Engineering research group, obtaining external funding to enable development of new and independent research.
