UK: Research Fellow in Silicon Nanowires for Multiplexed Immunoassays

A postdoctoral research position is available to development novel surface chemistry to allow the attachment of antibodies to nanowires. The project is part of an ambitious EPSRC-funded ‘Nanotechnology Grand Challenge in Healthcare’ project to apply silicon nanowires as diagnostics for the detection of biomarkers of viral infections that are important factors in allergy and asthma. You will be based in superbly equipped laboratories in the School of Chemistry and in the School of Medicine at the University of Southampton.

You will be working closely with a highly interdisciplinary team involving academics from the Schools of Chemistry, Electronics and Computer Science, Medicine and Social Science. Applicants with a strong background in Chemistry and experimental experience in some of the following areas: surface chemistry, chemical biology, protein chemistry or immunodiagnostics are encouraged to apply.

This fixed-term appointment for 12 months is available immediately.
