All appointments will normally be made at the bottom of the salary range South Kensington Campus A fixed term post for 12 months in the first instance Applications are invited for a Research Associate to work on a project aimed at investigating the pulmonary toxicology of silver, zinc oxide and ceria nanoparticles by relating their physicochemical properties to their interaction with the lung. This post will be held in the Department of Materials at Imperial College London in the groups of Dr Alexandra Porter and Dr Mary Ryan. You will be a conscientious, innovative experimental scientist who has successfully completed a PhD (or equivalent) in the physical sciences. Experience in the following areas is desirable: confocal microscopy, electron microscopy, nanoparticle synthesis and X-ray absorption spectroscopy. Previous Research Associate level experience and a proven publication record is also desirable. You will work within a team of dynamic students and researchers in newly refurbished laboratories on the South Kensington Campus and have extensive interaction with several academic collaborators. In addition to the state-of-the-art facilities within the department you will also have access to the facilities at the new London Centre for Nanotechnology and the Royal Brompton Heart and Lung Institute. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential.
