Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the field of molecular spintronics. The position is part of a recently awarded four year, £2.5 million Basic Technology grant, funded by EPSRC and involves investigators from the London Centre for Nanotechnology (LCN). This is a joint venture between Imperial College and University College London and at the University of Warwick. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team with expertise in Experimental Physics, Engineering, Chemistry, Materials, Biology and Theoretical Modelling and will benefit from state-of-the art fabrication and characterisation tools available at the three institutions.
You will contribute to the overall aim of the project, which is to exploit organic magnetism to develop new flexible optoelectronic devices and biosensing assay chips. You will have experience in one or several of the following subjects: (i) thin film deposition, (ii) surface science, (iii) magnetism and physics of quantum phenomena, (iv) spin resonance applied to biology and/or spintronics, (v) optics of organic materials and (vi) organic device fabrication and assessment.
You should have completed, or expect to complete shortly, a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant field and be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
