UK: Post doctoral Research Assistant

£24,273 increasing to £29,853 per annum, through progression

We seek a dynamic and innovative individual educated to PhD level or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline to join the polymers and composites group to work on a European Union funded project to investigate the use of starch clay nanocomposites for use as barrier coatings on paper substrates.

Relevant experience in the formulation and/or characterisation of polymers and/or polymer (nano)composites would be an advantage. The work will include the modification of bentonite surfaces and the dispersion of these materials into starch from a variety of sources. The resulting, renewable materials will be characterised in detail and successful formulations upscaled to produce real-world components.
