Personal Requirements: • Commitment – startup requires 60 and sometimes 80 hours per week to meet product development goals during first year of employment • Strong technical driver – communicate insights & hands-on results to team & help drive execution of synthesis & characterization goals • Ability to rapidly digest results & feedback into process – company works on fast turnaround on design-synthesis-characterize-test cycle • Proven ability to work with small teams in multi-tasking environment • Prefer good communication skills with upper management, peers, team • Prefer experience with small company or small team in larger company Technical Requirements: • Experience in the design, synthesis and characterization of self-assembled monolayers. • Solid foundation and demonstrated experience in surface science • Strong working experience with synthesis of organic molecules including designing and developing functional polymers • Experience with design, synthesis, characterization self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) • Experience with polymer brushes, hyper-branched polymers is a plus • Understanding of the phase behaviors of complex organic adsorbates at surfaces and interfaces • Atomic (functional) characterization of SAMs is a major plus • Experience with NMR, IR, UV-Vis, MS, HRMS, GPC, TGA, DSC, SEM and VASE is a major plus • Experience with AFM, TEM, STM is a major plus Qualifications Extension: • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or associated disciplines • 6 to 8 years industry experience, including team lead • Proven experience – publications & references • Proven ability and commitment to work to plan under time constraints • Proven team player, able to work in multi-cultural environment • Motivated to build successful nanotechnology company |
