The research on functionalised surfacescentres on understanding conformation-switchable nanostructure embedded into microfluidic devices. The technology offers control of customised surface function and has applications in hydrophobic/hydrophilic switching to make valves, pumps or mixers, or to expose catalysts in microchannels.

Multiscale modelling is another key research area, aided by our growing knowledge base in computational materials design and performance prediction.

Our nanoactive microsurfaces research aims to bridge the nanoscale and the microscale.
