G-Lam is USGN&#039;s patented anti-ballistic material with half the weight and twice the strength of competitive offerings. G-Lam is a nano-fiber material created with a patented computer-designed weaving process that results in a crimp-free material with superior tensile performance. Excessive fiber crimping results in a rapid fall-off in woven material strength. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;USGN designs the G-Lam nano-scale weave to address specific ballistic threats. G-Lam is moldable with very strong shape memory which makes it suitable for wide array of applications. USGA is working with manufacturers to integrate G-Lam into new designs for anti-ballistic building materials, shaped body armor, vehicle and aircraft protective panels, shelters, fuel tanks, cargo containers, munitions cases and mailboxes. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;USGN&#039;s Guardian anti-ballistic cockpit security door was the first commercial product to incorporate G-Lam. The Guardian Door weighs only 40 pounds, can be installed overnight and has the highest ballistic and decompression ratings as required by the FAA, which has mandated that all US commercial passenger aircraft must be retrofitted with fortified anti-ballistic cockpit doors by the end of 2003. The Guardian door is currently undergoing US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Phase 5 STC testing. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;USGN recently launched the S.A.G. (&#039;Save A Gunner&#039;) Armored Turret System for mounting on High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV), of which there are currently over 150,000 deployed around the world. The S.A.G.
