Last summer SPECIM visited NIR 2007 in Umeå Sweden, and presented its high performance NIR Hyperspectral imaging technology. We had the chance to meet many new people from the NIR world, and get valuable insight from the chemical imaging community.

For many years, SPECIM has created a standard in the hyperspectral imaging industry, by providing high quality products, with superior performance, being cost-effective. Attributes which would be muted, without a very detailed understanding of how end-users will interact with our products. During NIR 2007, this point became even more evident as visitors continued to emphasize the importance of a technically superior instrument, with usability as a clear and cut design goal.
With this target clearly in mind, SPECIM has spent the last 8 months completing the latest addition to the SPECIM hyperspectral imaging product line, SisuCHEMA. SisuCHEMA is a completely integrated Hyperspectral Chemical Imaging Workstation, which will be officially launched during the Analytica trade fair, held in Munich, Germany, April 1-4 2008. Before specialising in intellectual property Stefan was a management consultant with McKinsey & Co. and a research fellow at Harvard Medical School and the Klinikum rechts der Isar. For several business plan competitions he has served as a juror.

Stefan has studied physics and biophysics at the Technische Universität München, the University of Oxford, and Harvard University. He was awarded a PhD for his work in the field of nanobiotechnology.

Stefan has received his education in intellectual property law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, the German Federal Patent Court, the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf, and with the Japanese patent law firm Okuyama & Co. in Tokyo. He is the author of numerous publications and a frequent speaker at international conferences on the subject of intellectual property law and strategy.

The company was founded in 1997 as a spin-off of the Center for Nanoscience (CeNS) in Munich. CeNS aims to stimulate and support interdisciplinary research in all areas of nanoscience, combining physics, chemistry, biochemistry and life sciences. As one result of that research - new tools for future nanotechnology have been developed. Due to the close relationship to CeNS, nanotools became partner for developing new "nanotools". At the moment the portfolio includes tweezers, nanotools is working on. Therefore close contact and a dynamic exchange of information with customers and friends in research as well as industry is indispensable. And will be called in in the further development.
