NANOTEC2008 will show how nanotechnology can lead to the development of a new generation of products, devices and processes which can revolutionise sectors of great relevance. The agenda will mirror the objectives of the Strategic Programme launched by the Italian Government, Industry 2015, which focus also on themes that are at the front line at world level:

• Energy efficiency;
• Sustainable mobility;
• New technologies for life sciences;
• New technologies for Made in Italy;
• Innovative technologies to preserve the cultural heritage.

“NanoBiotech 2007” will highlight cutting-edge R&D and explore commercialization opportunities of nanotechnology, biotechnology and related science and engineering fields. We have organized a multi-disciplinary conference that will offer networking opportunities to researchers from industry, government and academia; engineers; physicians; ethicists; environmental scientists; intellectual property practitioners; lawyers; business professionals; technology transfer specialists, policy makers and venture capitalists. Abstracts from the conference will be published in the peer-reviewed journals, Nanotechnology Law & Business and Nanomedicine. Issues of these journals will be distributed free to the first 100 full registrants. The conference will feature 20+ speakers, including 2 keynotes and a networking luncheon.

There is an avalanche-like increase of reports, where molecules of
nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) appear as an object of nanotechnology
research and/or as material for nano-sized devices. In many cases
scanning probe microscopy (SPM) is the most powerful and
informative research tool. Examinations as well as precise
manipulations can be performed this way. What is important when
SPM is applied to molecular level experiments? Three facets are
illustrated further.
