Certified PAVAC technicians operate high voltage, high vacuum, electron beam machines with fully CNC controlled functionality. PAVAC’s technical staff is trained to design and build tooling and jigs for your specific electron beam requirements. Our MSL center has 5-axis processing capability. X-Y-Z axis in combination with a tilt rotary allow processing of the most complex shapes. André Arsenault is a co-founder of Opalux Incorporated (”Opalux”), and leads R&D as its chief technology officer. He earned his Ph.D. degree in polymer and materials chemistry at the University of Toronto working with Professors Geoffrey A. Ozin and Ian Manners. Arsenault co-authored a textbook, Nanochemistry: A Chemical Approach to Nanomaterials, with Prof. Ozin. His doctoral dissertation was on tunable photonic crystal materials and this is the basis of Opalux’s core technologies.

Arsenault is the author of numerous articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, a number of patent applications. He was awarded both an NSERC doctoral fellowship and CGS scholarship over the course of his graduate studies. He graduated from the University of Toronto with an honours degree in biological chemistry in 2001.

Ulrich Kamp (”Uli”) has been working for Opalux Inc. since January 2007 as a Research Scientist with expertise in colloidal and inverse colloidal photonic crystal systems, and currently heads the research and development of Elastic Photonic Crystals. He recently completed his Ph.D. studies under the tutelage of Professors Geoffrey A. Ozin (Materials Chemistry) and Scott A. Mabury (Environmental Chemistry), and successfully defended his thesis work entitled “Colloidal Photonic Crystal Stationary Phases – Films, Monoliths, Columns” in 2006.

Uli is author of a key paper on colloidal crystal chromatography and co-inventor of a paptent application on colloidal crystal capillary columns for chromatography. Throughout his studies at the University of Technology Aachen and the University of Toronto, he has worked in a diversity of areas including chemical and polymer synthesis, high pressure NMR, novel chromatographic phases, and colloidal-based photonic crystals. In his free time Uli enjoys hiking, canoeing, winter-camping, astronomy, digital photography, and reading.
