&lt;p&gt;Many different combinations of materials and construction have been investigated and the advances which have been made in the last 30 years have been remarkable, but there is still a demand for even higher power ratings. Some of the combinations have proved effective but have proved subsequently to be dangerous to our environment and have been banned on ecological and environmental grounds.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In 1989, Ab Europositron was founded to pursue a radical new theory which had been propounded by Mr Rainer Partanen concerning one of the materials which had been investigated before but had always run into the same difficulties, namely the apparently insurmountable problem recharging a sealed cell battery using aluminium. Rainer Partanen has progressed the theory to the point of detailed specifications of cell construction, the electrochemistry involved and has registered patents covering all the necessary areas.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The fundamental basis of the Partanen technology can be applied to all formats of batteries, from tiny button batteries to high capacity stand-by power supplies. Using one of the most abundant metals available and incorporating existing manufacturing processes, this is an avenue which demands and deserves investigation to fruition.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A key innovation is the distribution of the beta emitter energy source throughout the DECTM Cell volume. This means that the current generation is not just a surface effect, but occurs everywhere within the active volume. Thus, DECTM current sources are extremely efficient, converting a large fraction of the available decay energy into electric current. The first and second generations of tritium-powered BetaBatteriesTM are expected to produce 50- and 125-micro-Watts per cubic centimeter of active device volume, respectively.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;BetaBatteryTM current sources are long-lasting, based on the selection of the beta source. Tritium has a half-life (T½) equal to 12.3 years. This means that after 12.3 years, the current output will be half its original value and a tenth of the original after 40 years. The decline in output for DECTM power cells will be quite predictable and can be accommodated by appropriate electronics design for each specific application.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Certified Nanotechnology &amp;amp; Clean Technology Professional Program will be offered in a 8-week training from August 16- October 4, 2008 in San Jose.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The certificate program is designed to train the participants for professional jobs with an opportunity for advancement in the high growth industries of nanotechnology and clean technology. The certificate classroom/lab training courses will equip you to enter into the emerging nanotech and clean tech industries. Students will be expected to demonstrate their acquired knowledge through problem solving, group discussions, and project development.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In addition to classroom learning and group project research assignment, students are expected to participate in industry seminars which will be held on Thursdays at 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM and complete a hand-on learning coursework on how to use a Scanning Electron Microscope at our training laboratory.&lt;/p&gt;
