About Nanovip.Com
Our interest in nanotechnology and the companies involved in this exciting industry naturally led us to the web, where we discovered that no definitive reference existed. We found some good web sites which provided nano business listings as part of their general directory, but there was no site dedicated to nanotechnology companies. This is why we created Nanovip.com: to offer a web-searchable, human edited database, focused on nanotechnology companies sorted by country and business sector.
Our site was launched in November 2003 and keeps growing every day. We are proud to continue to promote the nanotechnology industry from our position as the first exclusive worldwide nanotechnology companies directory.

About the Nanovip.com database:
Our goal is to remain the leading nano companies web directory, and to accompany the industry during its rapid growth in the years to come. About the companies in our database:
There is a debate to define which company may be considered a « Nanotechnology » company or not. It seems that a part of our audience expect to find molecular manufacturing companies with self-assembling robots capabilities. Some are considering the “bottom up” technology process of molecular manufacturing as the only “TRUE” nanotechnology. The problem is that as of writing this note, there are no “TRUE” nanotechnology companies according to the above definition. Thus we made the deliberate choice to list on Nanovip.com, companies involved in nanoscale interaction, manipulation, observation and fabrication: the result might not fit anyone’s expectation from a “nanotechnology company”.
It is easier to define the recent self-called nanotechnology start-ups, but it is more difficult to define already existing companies that are progressively incorporating nanoscale technology into their operations, yet these companies are still, in our opinion, engaged in the path of nanotechnology - a technology interacting with the matter at the nanoscale (atomic / molecular) level.

On the left user menu, you will find a Recent content link. Once on this page, you will find a tab "My recent posts". This will generate a page with your posted content.

How to edit a listing ?

To edit a database item, such as a company or product, you must simply register to our site, be logged in and become the editor of your listing.

To become the editor of a listing, contact us and tell us which page you want to "own". We will then grant you editor status on the desired entries so you can edit your listing whenever you want to.

Registered publishers are automatically granted editor status for anything they enter in the database. This is why it is strongly recommended to register (for free) to our site before creating any content.

NOTE: Any edition will still be reviewed by our staff and will appear upon Nanovip.com's staff approval only, so don't worry if you don't see your listing once edited: it is pending approval.

You can authorize Nanovip.com visitors to contact you: Go to the "My account" link from the left menu (you must be a registered users) then click on the "Edit" tab, and check "Personal contact form". You email will NOT be revealed on this site if you enable this, because users will contact you trough a form.

How to post files ?

You can attach a file to any content submitted to our site. This attached file will then be visible, and downloadable when viewing your entry. To attach a file, once on the submission form, look at the bottom of the page and click on “File attachments”. An upload field will appear. If you want to attach more than one file to your post, PREVIEW your listing. You will then notice a new upload file at the same location. If you directly want to post a file on our site; your file being the main topic of your post, use the File content type form.

How to set my timezone ?

Setting your timezone will synchronize all times format on the site to your timezone. Thus, when looking at the post time of an item, you will know exactly when it was posted at your local time. To set your timezone, on the left user menu, click on "My account" link, then the "Edit" tab. At the bottom you will see the timezone drop down list. Pick up your local time and save.

I submitted or edited content but I don't see it ?

Each content item edited or submitted to our database is first reviewed by our staff. Content review usually takes less than 24 hours. Additionally, we have enabled a caching mechanism that will generate our pages every 15 minutes, so even if you submitted content that doesn’t require staff review, it will not appear immediately.
