Zvonimir Bandić is the Research Staff Member in the Hitachi San Jose Research Center in San Jose, California. He received his BS in electrical engineering in 1994 from the University of Belgrade, Yugoslavia, and his MS (1995) and PhD (1999) in applied physics from Caltech, Pasadena, in the field of novel electronic devices based on wide bandgap semiconductors. He has held the position of research staff member at IBM Almaden Research Center, San Jose, CA, from 1999 until 2002, where he pioneered the field of magnetic lithography, used for highly parallel magnetic recording of servo and formatting data on magnetic disks. In 2003 he became research staff member at the Hitachi San Jose Research Center. His current areas of research include design, nanofabrication and characterization of electronic and magnetic devices for applications in information storage.
