Digital Bio Technology is founded in June, 2000 by Seoul National University Ph.D.'s in the fields of medical, mechanical and electrical engineering with the founding capital of 300 million won. Our company has undergone capital increase and has established itself as a research-oriented company with a total capital of 1.2 billion won and approximately 20 researchers with advanced degrees.

Our company is currently concentrating on a system development of medical and life science, which will lead the future market. Lab-on-a-Chip(LOC), Point-of-Care(POC) and DNA chip analysis system are the main systems which are under developing with the technology of micro plastic chip fabrication and microfluidics. We have recently completed the development and commercialization of a disposable plastic LOC for dilution. And we have also produced prototype of cell counter which differentiates more than two kinds of ells as well as measures the number of cells and PT/APTT assay system which can measure condition of blood coagulation automatically. These two systems are under preparation for commercialization.

Furthermore, with the rapid commercialization of Bio Chips such as DNA/Protein chips, we have succeeded in the development and marketing of scanners(Genoscope DCR 200) necessary for such chip technologies. Also, with our superb MEMS technology as a basis, we plan to invest our resources in the development of small/portable in-vitro POC device, an area in which even technologically advanced nations stay in the quickening period. And all these efforts will lead us to the world-class bio-MEMS comapny.

In the future, Digital Bio Technology aims to develop various equipments that enable to perform many kinds of experimental and analytical processes in the laboratory of companies, universities or the medical institutions more rapidly and more economically. We are at the present time undertaking the 3-year research project starting Aug 31, 2001, "Development of Information System for Activating R&D of nano Technology" , which is supported by the Korea Research Council of Public Science & Technology.

Since the announcement of the National Nanotechnology Initiative by the Clinton administration in the United States, major developed countries have been intensifying nanotech research activities on a national basis in order to take the leadership in the nanotech development area.

In Korea, the National Science and Technology Council has also established the "Nanotech Development Plan" in July, 2001 and prepared a 10-year implementation program for nanotechnology R&D and industrialization for Korea to advance into the best five countries in nanotech area by 2010.

In order to meet this goal and contribute effectively to the Korea National Nanotech Initiative, the Center for Nanotech Information (CNI) was created in January 2002 under the wings of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI).

The construction project of KANC forms a part of the construction project of the national core research infra carried out by the Ministry of Science and Technology. NANO is consistently pursuing leading company in ceramic raw material powder and extrusion products. We established a mass production line for nanoscale photocatalytic powder at the end of 2001. The new low-cost processing technology was certified by Ministry of Commerce, Korea, in July 2001. Our government also recognized the importance and they are currently promoting several major policies including R&D, facilities construction, personnel training and so forth followed by "National General Nano Technology Development Plan(July, 2001)" as well as operating "The National Program for Tera Level Nanodevices".
