Eligibility:-The recruitment procedure for the position is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance .
-Prerequisites include 240 ECTS credits of higher education studies of which 60 credits should be on an advanced level (graduate level), and 120 credits should be in Physics or closely related fields.

Scholarship Description: Two fully funded PhD positions in the field of flexible organic/hybrid and biomimetic solar cells are available. The positions are for 4 years (with possibility to extend them by one additional year with a teaching assistantship). The salary is generous by international standards, and working conditions are excellent, with fully renovated laboratories, a clean-room facility, and several new equipments. The projects will involve collaborations with international groups (Princeton University and UCLA), and the students may have the opportunity to spend some time in one of these groups during their studies.The projects will focus on building a flexible organic/hybrid solar cell with improved efficiency. Nanopatterning and self-assembly methods will be applied to increase light absorption, enhance charge separation, improve charge transfer to the electrodes, and build a functional flexible device. We shall use semi-conducting polymers, novel sustainable materials (carbon nanotubes, graphene), and apply biomimetic principles to further improve the solar cell performance.
