The Nanodevices Group at the CIC nanoGUNE Consolider Research Center in San Sebastian is currently looking for a
Postdoctoral Researcher (Physics/Materials Science/Engineering/Chemistry)
who is interested in working in an inspiring international and interdisciplinary environment in the area of
Ferromagnetic/Organic Hybrid Materials
The postdoctoral appointment under this project is for three years, with yearly renewals conditioned to performance.
This specific project is funded by the EU under the Fp7 Framework program, and it involves close collaboration with different academic and industrial partners across Europe.
The research will require the growth of complex magnetic/organic hybrid materials, their structural and energetic characterization together with the detailed study of their magnetic and electrical transport properties. Devices will be fabricated in the center’s fully-equipped clean room.
The research proposed will answer fundamental questions in the field, such as the possibility of tuning the spin/charge transfer by molecular selection or the electrical spin manipulation in organic materials.
Recent work on the above research topics in which our team has participated can be found in the following articles: Nature Physics 6, 615 (2010); Nature Materials 8, 707 (2009); Physical Review B 78, 115203 (2008); Organic Electronics 9, 911 (2008); Advanced Materials 19, 2639 (2007); Physical Review B 76, 045406 (2007).
CIC nanoGUNE Consolider, located in San Sebastian, Basque Country (Spain), is a recently founded Research & Development Center with the mission of conducting basic and applied world-class research in nanoscience and nanotechnology, fostering training and education excellence, and supporting the growth of a nanotechnology-based industry. Requirements
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in physics, materials science, engineering or chemistry. Experience in one or more of the following experimental techniques would be strongly preferred although it is not strictly a prerequisite: UHV systems, metal and organic evaporation, sputtering, photoelectron spectroscopy, AFM, data acquisition, lithography and low-temperature electrical transport.
The candidate should be self-motivated, a team player, and wiling to perform research at the highest level.
Proficiency in spoken and written English is compulsory.
Applicants should send their CV together with the name of at least two potential referees to: Dr. Luis E. Hueso at l.hueso@nanogune.eu
