Science jobs from CIC nanoGUNE Consolider Research Center: job description
The Nanomagnetism Group at the CIC nanoGUNE Consolider Research Center in San Sebastian is currently looking for a
Postdoctoral Researcher
(Physics/Materials Science/Engineering/Chemistry)
who is interested in working in an inspiring international and interdisciplinary environment in the area of application of nano-magnetism to biology.
The postdoctoral appointment under this project is for two years, with yearly renewals conditioned to performance. This specific project is funded by a Basque funding agency and it involves close collaboration with an industrial partner.
The research proposed will address the utilization of magnetic nano-structures to manipulate bio-functionalized nano-particles in solution. The research will require the nano-fabrication of ferromagnetic planar structures (wires), their structural and magnetic characterization together with their integration in microfluidic systems. Devices will be fabricated in the center’s fully-equipped clean room.
Recent work on the above research topics in which our team has participated can be found in the following articles: Adv. Mater. 22, 2706 (2010); J. Appl. Phys. 107, 09B301 (2010); Nanotechnology 20, 385501 (2009); Appl. Phys. Lett. 93, 203502 (2008).
CIC nanoGUNE Consolider, located in San Sebastian, Basque Country (Spain), is a recently founded Research & Development Center with the mission of conducting basic and applied world-class research in nanoscience and nanotechnology, fostering training and education excellence, and supporting the growth of a nanotechnology-based industry. Requirements
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in physics, materials science, engineering or chemistry. Experience in one or more of the following experimental techniques would be strongly preferred although it is not strictly a prerequisite: UV optical e-beam lithography, metal e-beam and sputtering evaporation, AFM/MFM, data acquisition, microfluidics.
The candidate should be self-motivated, a team player, and wiling to perform research at the highest level.
Proficiency in spoken and written English is compulsory.
Applicants should send before December 4 their CV together with the name of at least two potential referees to: Dr. Paolo Vavassori at p.vavassori@nanogune.eu .
