Number of Nanotechnology Theses Doubles in Iran in Four Years

TEHRAN (FNA)- The number of theses and dissertations in the field of nanotechnology has doubled in Iran in the last four years, announced Secretary of the Human Resources Development Workshop of Iran’s Nanotechnology Initiative Council Seyed Mehdi Rezayat.

Rezayat made the remarks in the opening ceremony of the 8th Nanotechnology Conference for University Students on December 1, elaborating on the policies, activities, and achievements of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC).

In his speech, he reminded that the INIC has made extensive efforts in various fields of information dissemination and promotion, infrastructure, human resources development, technology transfer and publication, and participation in international meetings and exhibitions.

“Iran has progressed noticeably in equipment manufacturing. In addition to standard tunneling microscope (STM), AFM atomic microscope will be soon produced domestically,” Rezayat stated.

Based on his point of view, Iran’s significant participation in international exhibitions and conferences and the point that other countries are surprised by Iran’s achievements are the signs of Iran’s pioneering role in the field of nanotechnology in the world.

Rezayat further pointed out that Iran plans to establish a nanometrology center next year.

The Secretary of INIC’s Human Resources Development Workshop also elaborated on the human and information resources of the Council, and said, “In the last four years, the number of theses in the field of nanotechnology has doubled.

“University of Tehran, Sharif University of Technology, and Amir Kabir University of Technology have carried out the most theses at the MSc level, while the University of Tehran, Sharif University of Technology, and Tarbiat Modares University have had the most dissertations at the PhD level.”

Rezayat laid emphasis on the two factors of “efforts to increase the production of technology and patent” and “production of products and wealth” as INIC’s main concerns.

“In this regard, Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council’s main programs are to increase citation of Iranian articles and prevent publication of the theses carried out before,” he concluded.
