AME's research team applies our proprietary AMEsystem directed evolution protein engineering technology to create improved therapeutic protein candidates. The AMEsystem was designed, developed and continuously upgraded over the last decade by our research team specifically to address the unique challenges of optimizing human biotherapeutics. In the process, AME has also developed an unparalleled record of success in optimizing protein therapeutic candidates.

Directed Evolution is a precise and controlled three-step process to create proteins with optimized functions. In the first step, a library of variant genes is created based on an initial gene that encodes for a protein of interest. In the second step, the variant genes are expressed into functional proteins. In the third step, the proteins are screened, or tested, for improved function.
