PuraMatrix is 3DM's patented product line of synthetic self-assembling peptide hydrogels invented at MIT. PuraMatrix is the leading commcial synthetic scaffold for 3D cell culture, cancer biology, drug discovery, tissue engineering, bioproduction, and cell therapy research. PuraMatrix is composed of a simple 16 amino acid peptide monomer 1% weight/volume in tissue culture water, which self-assembles in the presence of salt to form ECM-scale nanofibers, that in turn self-assemble into extremely stable, injectable, biocompatible and biodegradable hydrogels. The gels work by coating surfaces or encapsulating cells, allowing for the proper three dimensional (3-D) culture across most cell types, including cell-based assays for neurite outgrowth, angiogenesis, cell migration, cancer invasion, and hepatocyte toxicity. This reproducible integrin-free scaffold can be customized according to the desired microenvironment to closely model the in vivo milieu along with growth factors, cytokines, integrin sequences, and other bioactive molecules.
