SkyePharma has established a number of excellence centres, each specialising in certain drug delivery technologies: SkyePharma AG (oral, topical, inhalation), SkyePharma Sweden (Biosphere injectable), SkyePharma Inc (DepoFoam injectable) and SkyePharma Canada (enhanced solubilizsation).

SkyePharma Research & Development activities for oral, inhalation and topical technologies are conducted in Muttenz near Basel, Switzerland by over 100 scientists, 33 of whom have advanced qualifications in medicine or academic research, with a wide range of expertise, including dry powder formulation, device design, lung biology, aerosol science and chemical and mechanical engineering.

Research & Development and manufacturing for our injectable sustained release DepoFoam technology takes place in San Diego, California, where we have around 56 scientists, 30 of whom hold advanced degrees, including 13 MDs or PhDs. A centre of excellence in the application of enhanced solubilization has been created in Montreal, Canada. There, around 35 experienced scientists implement the most appropriate technology from our extensive portfolio of alternative technologies to improve drug solubility.
