General Information

Conference Objectives
The main objectives of the “Rational Design of Catalytic Materials” Conference are to enable American and Danish researchers to connect, form relationships, and present new research related to the design of catalytic materials. The Conference will explore the complexity of catalysts and how we can design them for future applications including solar energy utilization. This subject should be of interest to both industry and the scientific community.

The official language of the conference is English.

The maximum number of participants is 130 people.

Visa Requirements (for Danish Citizens Only)
There are no visa requirements, but you have to ensure that your passport is valid. For more information, please see http://www.politi.dk/da/borgerservice/pas/rejsengaartilusa/ (site is in Danish only).

Important Deadlines
Submission of extended abstracts: December 3, 2007
Recommended deadline for hotel booking: December 13, 2007
Conference: January 14 –15, 2008

Conference Venue
The Conference will be held in Berkeley, California. The Conference will take place at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), above the UC Berkeley campus, and adjacent to the San Francisco Bay Area. LBNL has a unique location with a panoramic view of San Francisco, and is the oldest of the U.S. Department of Energy’s national laboratories.

The Conference sessions will be held in Building 66 (LBNL): Conference Room 316 (third floor) and the adjacent auditorium.

There will be signs leading the way from the main gate (Blackberry Entrance). Please see the LBNL Site Map for more information.

Travel
There are several airports near Berkeley. The largest is the San Francisco International Airport (SFO), which has daily international flights. Taxis are the most convenient way of getting to the hotel from SFO, which is about 45 minutes from Berkeley; a taxi will cost about $65.

You can also take the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) from SFO to the Downtown Berkeley BART station. To plan your trip, please visit the SF Bay Area 511 Transit Web site at http://transit.511.org/destinations/detail.asp?did=130.

You can also use the Oakland International Airport (OAK) and the Mineta San José International Airport (SJC).
