PowerMetal Hires New Material Engineer

CARLSBAD, CA – October 9, 2006 – PowerMetal Technologies President and CEO Edward Hughes today announced that Dr. Uday V. Deshmukh has been hired as a Material Engineer for the company’s innovative nanotechnology applications. Deshmukh will lead the development and application of several technology platforms creating unique multi-material solutions for the company’s sports and consumer products clients.

“Continuing to hire top technical talent is critical for PowerMetal as we grow,” said Hughes. “Dr. Deshmukh will help oversee the ongoing development and refining of PowerMetal’s high-impact platforms for applications such as golf club heads and baseball bats.”

Deshmukh’s recent experience with armor defense systems at Ceradyne and golf club design at Callaway Golf, provide the needed expertise to manage these technology platforms.

Prior to PowerMetal, Deshmukh was developing ceramic armor defense at Ceradyne. He also served as a Staff Engineer and Materials Specialist at Callaway Golf Company where he conducted research on metals and processes related to the fabrication of golf clubs. Some of Deskmukh’s work is currently used in the Callaway Fusion irons.

Prior to his work at Callaway, Deshmukh spent seven years at Dow Chemical Company where he was the recipient of the company’s Inventor of the Year award.

Deshmukh, who has co-authored several publications and holds 16 U.S. patents, received both his doctorate and master’s degrees in Materials Engineering from Drexel University.
