MESA+ is a scientific institute that conducts high quality research and promising researchers are educated. It aims to publish in leading journals and realize sizeable spin-off activities.
To provide in high quality research, the institute recognizes the importance of an attractive working environment. Working at MESA+ means walking at the forefront of science and technology and have fun.

This makes the institute attractive for national and international researchers
(PhD-students and post-doctoral), companies and institutions.

Intensive cooperation between different research groups of the University of Twente plays a key role in realizing the goals of MESA+.
A research group is, generally speaking, focused at a well-defined research area. However, a lot of research nowadays encompasses more than one discipline. Many internationally appealing results are achieved through cooperation between different disciplines. This is one of the reasons why MESA+ chose for a multidisciplinary approach in setting up its organizational structure. In the case of MESA+ cooperation is established and promoted between applied physics, electrical engineering, chemical engineering and applied mathematics.

The organizational setup is unique in its way of establishing cooperation between the different disciplines. The structure supports and facilitates the researchers, rather than directs them in a hierarchical sense. Through the use of Strategic Research Orientations cohesion and accumulation of research is achieved together with scientific freedom for the participating researchers.
