NANOTEC was officially established on August 13, 2003 by the Thai Cabinet’s decree in response to the fast growing development of nanotechnology and its applications to future manufacturing. The rapid advancement and evolution of the internet and innovative technology solutions will be closely linked to people’s everyday life. Hence, the establishment of NANOTEC is a testament of Thailand’s commitment to enter cutting-edge research and development in order to help build a strong foundation for national competitiveness in a global market economy. NANOTEC’s objectives are to set the agenda and lay out the nanotechnology roadmap for Thailand, to lead and support R&D programs in nanoscience and nanotechnology, to disseminate and transfer nanotechnology to public and private sectors, to help develop advanced educational and HRD programs to produce top quality researchers in nanotechnology, and to manage technology investment, public awareness and information services. Current on-going activities include the nation’s first nanotechnology roadmap, technical and informational seminars include nanopolymers, nanocomposites, nanoparticles, nanoclay, nanofibers, nanotubes, nanoporous materials, nanocatalysts, solar cells, and nano-biosensors.
