It helps to nucleate and invest in research programs through its associated faculty and their private-sector affiliates with the goal of developing technology that will assist the growth of existing companies as well as be the genesis for new start-up companies. The Alliance also has established a core group of technical expertise and resources to move rapidly in addressing critical needs of the private-sector of New York State, leveraging the considerable intellectual resources of the academic community.
