Nanofilm develops and commercializes transparent, invisible self-assembling nanocoatings that impart functional benefits to surfaces. These benefits include: 1) Hydrophobicity: resistance to soiling, chemicals and contaminants; water repellency; non-stick and surface-sealing properties; 2) Hydrophilicity: highly water-spreading surfaces that prevent fogging, increasing clarity of surfaces in highly humid cold and hot environments; 3) Surface toughness: high scratch-resistance while maintaining optical clarity for plastic substrates with other coatings as well as glass surfaces.
There are current products being sold in optics, ophthalmics, sports, display and imaging, photonics, safety, military and other markets. Nanofilm's knowledge of the application of self-assembled nano-coatings provides a platform for taking nanotechnology out of the laboratory and into the mainstream. In many cases, Nanofilm nano-coatings can be consumer-applied, or applied easily within an OEM manufacturing environment. For example, in 2003, the company launched Clarity Fog Eliminator, a high-performance, consumer-applied anti-fog for eyeglasses, sunglasses, sports goggles and face-shields.
Nanofilm products are distributed across the U.S., Europe, South America and the Pacific Rim.
