Our industrial relationships have introduced many new materials concepts into the world arena from greatly enhanced lasing in liquid crystals, to tuneable flexoelectric bimesogenic systems for high speed telecommunications applications and into composite systems for printing and low cost production of displays. This work is underpinned by core materials research programmes into the fundamental structure-property correlations of self organising photonic systems.
