According to the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council, Mohammad Barghamadi, member of scientific board at Islamic Azad University, Sabzevar Branch, has conducted a research in order to prepare reinforced nanocomposites based on epoxy resin, nanoclay and 4, 4′ diaminoazobenzene (DAAB).
He also performed studies on curing kinetics and mechanism of the reaction in presence of nanosilica.
“According to our results, presence of silica nanoparticles would benefit the nanocomposites in terms of mechanical and thermal properties. In addition, having hydroxylic functional groups, the silica nanoparticles will increase curing reaction rates practically,” Barghamadi stated.
“The boosted mechanical/thermal characteristics of the proposed nanocomposites promise feasible applications in various industries such as aerospace, marine, and construction,” he added.
