Job Purpose
The appointee is required to carry out necessary fabrication processes, their development and performance qualification, and participate in the operation and maintenance of the nanotechnology facilities, with the expectation to establish both standard and exciting new cleanroom fabrication methods, particularly thin film and planar operations. S/he will be working with research groups, post-docs and others to enable fabrication of micro and nano devices for their research, and also assist external collaborators and partners to the same end.

The successful applicant will have proven hands-on and supervisory experience in many of the modern planar device fabrication processes and appropriate characterization methods, and with semiconductor active and passive devices, including MEMS, processing on 2, 4 or 6 inch wafers. The post would also require high-value instrument-maintenance, supervision and training of users, operation and maintenance management of complex facilities. In addition s/he will be a member of the cleanroom technical team responding to all inquiries on nanofabrication or planar technology.

The primary duties will be on photolithography, combined device process, wet chemical process, RIE, PECVD, thermal process, vacuum film coatings, RF/DC sputtering, e-beam and thermal evaporation, etc.
Performing nanotechnology-standard processes and processing procedures.
Developing novel nanotechnology processes, procedures and documenting them.
Cooperate with the current cleanroom technical staff for the start-up, daily running and maintenance of the new 240 square metre cleanroom and related nanotechnology facilities.
Installation of new equipment, advanced device processing and direct service delivery to users.
Maintenance of existing equipment dealing with outside suppliers as required in processing and process development.
Training and supervising of staff in device processing, operating procedures and use of equipment.
Interfacing with tool-vendors, users and researchers for stable running of instruments as associated with process development.
Deal with the administration and procurement of materials, supplies and consumables for use within the cleanroom.
Occasional tasks that are essential to the job but may only occur once or a few times a year e.g. appraisal.
