The Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia with headquarters in Genova (Italy) is a non-profit institution with the primary goal of creating and disseminating scientific knowledge and strengthening Italy’s technological competitiveness. The research areas cover scientific topics of high innovative content, which represent the most advanced frontiers of modern technology, with wide application possibilities in various fields ranging from medicine to industry, from computer science to robotics, life sciences , and nanobiotechnology .
The Department of EHS, Center for Biomolecular Nanotechnologies (IIT-CBN@UniLe) is currently aiming to recruit a talented, energetic, strongly motivated and experienced Researcher.
In particular, EHS is seeking a scientist with a strong background in Nanotoxicology (or Nanobiotechnology) with proved experience in the risk assessment of nanotechnology products.
Within an international and multidisciplinary environment, the candidate will work in a team of researchers developing innovative projects aimed at the understanding of toxicity of nanomaterials , the impact of physical-chemical properties of NPs to living systems and environment, and their relation to exposure and hazards. He will also be actively involved in grants preparation and managing.
The successful candidate should have:
(i) A Ph.D in nanotechnology (or nanotoxicology).
(ii) Excellent knowledge of state-of-the-art of nanotoxicology with particular attention to the issues related to the nanomaterial properties, international regulatory testing (e.g., OECD, ISO, etc.), nanomaterial nomenclature, development of SOPs for nanomaterials.
(iii) Excellent track record of international project managing. The candidate should have experience in operational budget preparation and in FP7 grant application.
(iv) Ability to write international projects and good communication skills to establish international collaborations and to promote international initiatives for the harmonisation of nanosafety research worldwide.
(v) Proactive attitude and results-oriented mindset.
(vi) Good interpersonal skills and willingness to integrate in a multidisciplinary research team (including biologists, chemists, biotechnologists, physicists).
(vii) At least 4-5 years of post-doctoral research experience in relevant technical areas and projects dealing with nanotoxicology, nanotechnology applied to biology.
(viii) Excellent knowledge of English
(ix) Familiarity in nanotechnology, nanofabrication and top-down or bottom-up production of nanomaterials is preferred.
The salary will depend on qualifications and experience with additional health benefits. This post will be offered for a 5 years position as Researcher.
To apply please send before 15/02/2013 a CV, 3-5 representative publications, 3 evaluation letters by external experts, 3 pages of research statement to Dr. Pier Paolo Pompa:Â pierpaolo.pompa@iit.it ;http://cbn.iit.it
