I am looking for a hands-on Internship/Consulting position

Summer position from July 8 to September 20, 2010

To whom it may concern:

I am looking for a hands-on Internship/Consulting position in nanotechnology, MEMS, semiconductor, solar and/or optical process, device, equipment and technology development from July 8 to September 20, 2010. With my previous contributions to industry, my many years of process and device development experience combined with my academic background, I can quickly contribute to your projects and teams. I am a fast learner and have broad experience to quickly adjust to new areas of expertise.
Most recently I jumpstarted a process for optical sensors incorporating nanowire technology at the Center for Nanoscale Systems at Harvard University and for Zena Technologies, a start-up in Massachusetts resulting in several patents. I also developed novel Laser based MO processes and equipment for quantum dot synthesis for nanovelus and photovoltaic cells for IC-Semiconductors.
In my regular job I teach physics, nanotechnology and semiconductor technology at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hannover. During past Sabbaticals I worked for various start-ups in the MEMS and the PLC/waveguide (WG) business and on the incorporation of nanotechnology in PLC/waveguide based optical components. Various 10 µm deep vertical SiO2 and Si etches were developed as well as the growth of low stress, very thick oxides of up to 35 µm. STS etcher, EVG backside aligner and bonder were some of the tools I used here. I was also responsible for the process integration and for novel WG patterning concepts. I searched for- and negotiated the terms and conditions for a foundry with dedicated cleanroom and selected, purchased and sold equipment used in this cleanroom. For other companies I helped develop and analyze low resistivity W PECVD, Atomic Layer CVD, metalnitrides and thin metallic film metrology, salicides and doped glass processes resulting in several papers and patents on these subjects. I also did competitive technology studies and gave semiconductor technology courses for company engineers.

During my summer breaks and Sabbaticals I want to practice and apply my skills in the industrial world. I could support your process & equipment development, your integration & metrology efforts, your foundry or customer interface, cleanroom set up, process, device and system design. My technical skills are attractively combined with some management, program management, applications, marketing and sales experiences.

I would appreciate it, if you could present my attached resume to your interested team and colleagues and look forward to support you and your team this summer.

Best regards,

Thomas

PS: I am a US Green Card holder and can work for any company in the US.
I am available on a full time Consulting basis from July 10 to September 20 every year and also every February. The rest of the year I can consult on a part time basis.
