Senior Micro and Nanotechnology Component Engineer in the Components Technology Section of the Materials and Components Technology Division, Product Assurance and Safety Department, Directorate of Technical and Quality Management.
This post is classified in the A2/A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations’ salary scale.
ESTEC, Noordwijk (The Netherlands).
The Materials and Components Technology Division provides direct support to all ESA programmes for the definition, implementation and control of EEE components. The postholder shall report to the Head of Components Technology Section. This Section is responsible for the activities concerning Electrical, Electronic and Electromechanical (EEE) components and in particular VLSI, microwave, millimetre-wave, photonic, passive components, hybrid components and assemblies, Micro and Nanotechnology (MNT).
This post concerns in particular the field of micro and nanotechnology and the associated component devices for use in space environment.
The specific duties of the post include:
establishing, maintaining and broadening the component engineering competence of the Division in the area of micro and nanotechnology as relevant for and applicable to EEE components.
formulating, initiating and implementing with ESA MNT stake-holders the development and evaluation activities of related MNT manufacturing processes, test and validation methods;
MNT component engineering support to concurrent design activities within the CDF and preparation of adequate strategic dossiers and procurement documents;
interfacing with the European Commission and industry concerning implementation and coordination of MNT research activities within the FP7 and ESA research programmes and coordinating existing industrial and the Directorate’s internal MNT working groups;
definition and monitoring of work to be performed by the Materials and Components Laboratory;
definition, review and maintenance of component engineering requirements and related technical standards and specifications to ensure adequate quality, control, audit and procurement requirements for MNT components;
