Full Professor Position for Single Molecule Analysis
(W2 salary scale, starting date: April 1st, 2011)

Applicants should investigate biologically relevant questions by single molecule approaches, which may include a combination with super-resolution fluorescence microscopy and nano-structured surfaces. Areas of research can include, but are not limited to, interdependence of mechanical and biochemical states in nanomachines (molecular motors, switches, mechanical sensors, etc.) or the analysis of single molecules in membranes and cells.

Cooperations with existing Research Networks, Graduate Schools and research facilities (Center for Nanotechnology and Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research) are welcome.

Applicants should have a strong interest and background in cell biology, biophysics, or biophysical chemistry, and take an active interest in fostering the development of new, interdisciplinary structures. An active and appropriate participation in the teaching duties of the School of Biological Sciences at both the BSc and MSc levels and in academic self-governing of the university is expected.

Required qualifications include a doctorate and a strong postdoctoral research record proven by either a habilitation or equivalent research achievements in academia or outside academia.
