Research at the CIML is focussed on the molecular and cellular bases of innate and adaptive immunity with links to other disciplines such as cell biology, microbiology, virology, oncology and nanotechnology. CIML has more than 230 staff including 20 research teams, administration and technical services. CIML provides common scientific services including; imaging, proteomics, mouse transgenics facilities and scientific platforms for; microscopy (PICsL platform), bio-optics (MOSAIC platform) and mouse transgenics (RIO-Marseille-Nice Genopole platform). The research teams at CIML are both multidisciplined and multinational, 9 of the 20 group leaders at CIML are not French, which underlines the international dimension of the institute.
This project, in the Inflammation Biology Group, will investigate the signalling pathways and molecular mechanisms that govern macrophage phenotype and function in chronic inflammation and immunity. The role of specific signalling pathways, including IkappaB kinase (IKK) and MAPK, in macrophages will be studied in experimental models of chronic inflammatory disease and infection using Cre/lox-mediated gene targeting.
PhD in immunology, molecular biology or related subject. Experience in mouse transgenics and in vivo models and/or biochemical analysis of signaling pathways will be a great advantage.
