| Summary: | In order to spur citizen involvement in the development of nanotechnology, France has launched a public debate with seventeen public meetings to be held in various locations. The first meeting was held in Strasbourg on October 15, 2009, and the last meeting will be held in Paris on February 23, 2010. Each meeting has an individual theme, such as cosmetic uses of nanotechnology or nanoparticles in the organism. However, participants will be able to raise any nanotechnology-related issues of their choosing, and all questions submitted will be posted on the accompanying website. This website, http://www.debatpublic-nano.org/, also contains documents designed to inform consumers about nanotechnology and its risks and benefits. |
