We are looking for polymer chemists to perform synthesis of “semiconducting polymers”, “low bandgap conjugated polymers”, “dendritic and hyperbranched polymers” as well as conducting research on building devices. The candidate should have a doctoral degree or expecting to receive a doctoral degree soon. Even though it will be nice for the candidates to have experience synthesizing and characterizing dendrimers and hyper-branched polymers, we will also consider hiring chemists who are skillful in macromolecular synthesis (“click chemistry”, ATRP, etc.).
Our laboratories are also well equipped to synthesize nanomaterials such as silicon nanowires, carbon nanotubes and semiconductor nanocrystals. Depending on the experience, the candidates can be hired as university faculty members, research chemists, or post-doctoral fellows. Shanghai Jiao Tong University is considered to be one of the top three science schools in China. Outstanding alumni include Dr. Qian Xuesen and many others. The research faculty in our institute excels in the areas of polymers, nanomaterials, and devices.
We are located on spacious research facilities which are ca. three years old in the new campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The Research Institute is well equipped with modern instruments for materials research and spacious clean room laboratories for nanofabrication of devices. Our recent representative publications include: “Facile Functionalization of Multilayer Fullerenes (Carbon Nano-Onions) by Nitrene Chemistry and ‘Grafting from’ Strategy.” Chem. Eur. J. v.15, 1389-1396 (2009) by Chao Gao, Eric Siu-Wai Kong, et al.; “Self-assembly of CdTe nanocrystals at the water/oil interface by amphiphilic hyperbranched polymers.” Nanotechnology v.19, 445609 (2008) by Xinyuan Zhu, Deyue Yan, and Eric Siu-Wai Kong et al.; “Carbon nanotube photovoltaic device with asymmetrical contacts.” Applied Physics Letters, v.94, 263501 (2009) by Eric Siu-Wai Kong, Yafei Zhang et al.; and “Nanowelded Carbon-Nanotube-Based Solar Microcells.” Small v.4, 1313-1318 (2008) Changxin Chen, Eric S. Kong, and Yafei Zhang et al. Interested candidates are urged to submit their C.V. to us before October 1st, 2010. Listed below is our contact information.
All the best,
