Officials at the University of Rochester and Congresswoman Louise Slaughter took part in the opening of the university’s new multi-million dollar integrated nanosystems center.
The new center will train the next generation in nanotechnology in the areas of science and engineering. Slaughter believes that the new lab has the potential to create jobs in the Rochester area.
“What both the university here and I knew is that if you build something here, it will work, and with that much needed assistance from the federal government, we can build a lab that will be the engine of growth for new industries and jobs right here in Rochester and western New York,” said Slaughter, a Democrat representing the 28th district.
The Nanosystems Center was funded by a federal grant that was secured by Slaughter.
