Nanotechnology Superdangerous Biotech Globally existential threats due to ‘overpopulation momentum’ together with the top-heavy age structure leave by now no alternative to radical technological adaptation for anything that wants to survive ‘long term’. It is strictly too late to ‘go green’ except via a novel take on what constitutes ‘green’, including synthetic biology. Hyped for a long time, nanoscience is ... Read More »

New Nanotechnology Research Study Turns Brain Tumors Blue
Researchers from Georgia Tech and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta have developed a technique that assists in identifying tumors from normal brain tissue during surgery by staining tumor cells blue. The technique could be critically important for hospitals lacking sophisticated equipment in preserving the maximum amount of normal tissue and brain function during surgery. Published this week in the journal Drug ... Read More »
Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology journal launched
A brand new journal – Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology was launched in January 2013. Professor Ijeoma Uchegbu is its editor in chief. Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology, published by Bentham Science Publishers, will publish work on new paradigms, concepts and materials relating to the fabrication of medicines and diagnostics by exploiting the special materials properties residing at the nanoscale. The journal has already, after just ... Read More »
Nanotechnology reverses rusting just by turning on a bright light
(Nanowerk News) Wouldn’t it be convenient if you could reverse the rusting of your car by shining a bright light on it? It turns out that this concept works for undoing oxidation on copper nanoparticles, and it could lead to an environmentally friendly production process for an important industrial chemical, University of Michigan engineers have discovered. “We report a ... Using nanotechnology for waterproofing building materials
(Nanowerk News) Researchers waterproofed building materials with very high efficiency by using a green and noncorrosive heteropoly acid catalyst (“Synthesis of a nano organo-silicon compound for building materials waterproofing, using heteropolyacids as a green and eco-friendly catalyst”). Keggin and Preyssler heteropolyacids as non-corrosive, stable, non-toxic and environmentally friendly catalysts were used in the synthesis of a nano organo-silicon material ... Read More »
Nanotechnology to preserve cultural treasures
Mexico City: Experts from nine countries have come together to promote the use of nanotechnology to preserve works of art and other cultural treasures, Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History said. The techniques pioneered by the NANOFORART Project are applicable to structures, paintings and books, the institute, known as INAH, said in a statement. Piero Baglioni, a researcher and ...
